Thomas John Connolly and wife Anne Garrity

Thomas John Connolly is the father of Edward Thomas Dunn's wife Mary Frances Connolly and the husband of Anne Garrotu.  He is my 3rd great-grandfather.

THOMAS JOHN CONNOLLY was born about 1790 in Ireland, Shetland, Scotland. He died about 1866 in Pensacola, Escambia Co, FL (Notre-Dame). He married (2) ANNE GARRITY, daughter of John Gariety and Mary Meloiu, in 1843 in Quebec, Quebec. She was born about 1790. 

Thomas John Connolly and Anne Garrity had the following children:

  1. MARY FRANCES CONNOLLY was born on 22 Jan 1846 in Quebec, Quebec, Canada.  She died on 09 Nov 1895 in Pensacola, Escambia, Florida, USA.  She married Edward Thomas Dunn, son of Michael Dunn and Bridget Dunn, on 08 Aug 1863 in Quebec, Quebec, Canada (Quebec, Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 for Edward Thomas Dunn). He was born on 14 May 1840 in St. Albins, Vermont, USA. He died on 22 Dec 1904 in Pensacola, Escambia, Florida, USA.
  2. ANNA "ANNIE" IDA CONNOLLY was born on 08 Dec 1857 in Canada. She died on 18 Jun 1926 in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, USA. She married John J. McGuire on 14 Apr 1873 in Escambia, Florida, USA (Original data: Marriage Records. Florida Marriages. FamilySearch, Salt Lake City, UT.). He was born in 1842 in Florida. He died on 28 Feb 1887 in Pensacola, Escambia Co, FL.
  3. JOSEPHINE B CONNOLLY was born in Feb 1864 in Massachusetts. She died on 05 Jul 1919 in Mobile, Mobile, Alabama. She married (1) JOHN JOSEPH PEREIRA in 1883. He was born in Dec 1859 in New York. He died before 1910 in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama.

The above marriage record comes from Quebec, Vital and Church Records (Droulin Collection), 1621-1967 as it appears on the Ancestry.com web site.  It is the record of the marriage of Edward Thomas Dunn to Mary Frances Connally in Quebec on 8 Aug 1863 and lists her parents as Thomas John Connolly and Anne Garrity.

No record has been found of Anne Garrity being in Pensacola FL, but John Connolly, name appears in the burial list of St. Michael's Cemetery and his name appears on the wall inside the below burial crypt for the Dunn family in that cemetery.

Two of Mary Francis Connally's sisters came to Pensacola with their father:

Josephine B. Connolly, born Feb 1864  with death unknown, married John Joseph Pereira, born Dec 1859 in New York and died before 1910 in Mobile AL, in 1883.  They lived in Mobile AL where her husband worked as a marine engineer. They had four children, two boys and two girls.

Anna "Annie" Ida Connolly, born 8 Dec 1857 in Canada and died 18 June 1926 in Pensacola FL, married John J. McGuire, born 1842 in Florida and died 28 Feb 1887 in Pensacola FL, on 14 Apr 1873 in Pensacola FL.  They lived in Pensacola FL where her husband worked as a marine engineer.  I believe they had six children, three boys and three girls.

St. Michael's Cemetery
